Slaughterhouse Survivors (SHS) Animal Rescue is a nonprofit organization rescuing, rehabilitating and re-homing as many animals as possible.

What started as a spontaneous rescue of a handful of dogs from a local slaughterhouse in 2016, has grown into something we NEVER expected. Coming from backgrounds where you almost take animal protection laws for granted, we couldn't ignore the suffering of animals and were in a position to do something, so decided to step up.

Based in the Chinese city of Harbin, where thousands of dogs are brutally slaughtered each week in the illegal dog meat trade, we are a small team composed of animal lovers, veterinary professionals and an essential network of Chinese locals fighting for the voiceless.

8+ years and 4000+ animals later, we’re still learning and growing and as we go. We hope to grow so together we can work towards change. SHS is not "professional" or any "business" and we never plan to be. It's raw. It’s emotional. It's a sh*t show. It's funny. It's heartbreaking. & it’s all about the animals.
